Your dog is pulling you down the street and you can’t seem to fix it. “we have tried food and treats”. I have heard it all. It’s great and all to hear that with some effort, time and patience you can train your dog not to pull with treats. The truth of the matter is not all of us have fine bred cupcake dogs who can walk on a flat buckle collar. Not all people have leash handling skills to do this either.
I don’t want to wait months or years to walk my dog to the sidewalk and back. I would like to enjoy life and get on with work, kids and or responsibilities that don’t involve my dog. That’s what most families deal with these days. If your dog is pulling you before you even leave the house, chances are you have work to do. Leaving the house and exiting a crate with a dog that’s in high arousal is already going towards destination “bad walk”.
How to fix it? Calm your dog. Teach them door manners, the place command and how to walk properly inside your house first. Teach them focus also. We do most of these things in matter of days and so can you. If you’d like free information on how to start dealing with these issues visit our videos section and check our Facebook page. You can do this yourself if you can’t afford training by a professional. This too will require work but, there’s plenty of free how to do it yourself videos. I have one on familyk9training.com.
