After the Board & Train

The Board & Train was stressful I’m sure. You wait to see your dog again. You’re feeling mixed emotions about the training sticking and you being able to cope. Do not worry we got you covered. This is why we have follow up sessions in your home. We add you to the client only facebook group as well. You have support here when you need it.

With that said you are also given homework. Yes homework!. Like it wasn’t enough already? You will learn that if you want to live in harmony with your dog or pup, things will change. Lifestyle. Your lifestyle is the key here. How you include your dog in it and how you give clear communication on what you and your family finds as acceptable behavior. We help you see your dog in a different way. I want you to have your dog’s respect and trust. If you don’t have this chances are your dog is running the show at your house and doing what it wants to do when it wants. We don’t really allow our kids to do this so, why do we allow our dogs?

Read your guide that was given to you before your dog came home. It’s totally important. At first things will feel weird but, as you go along on your new journey I promise you will love how living with your dog will start to feel and your anxiety will be in it’s place! Like I said it’s a lifestyle. Nothing for free and no decision without you going first. This, you will hear me say over and over again. This puts you as the leader and your dog looking for you for guidance. It’s nice to be outdoors where everything is so much more fun than us and our dogs just want to be with you and are actually focusing on you. Leadership & guidance got me “there” with your dog. That’s exactly what you will give your dog at home in order to keep this in place for life. It’s “not army”. I always say this but, there is tough love also. You can be gentle and you can be firm with all the tools and knowledge you will be provided with.

The best way to wash away the results is to slack on the rules. Good news is you can go back and start over by implementing the rules and holding your dog accountable for things it has already learned. Dogs are self pleasers always. They are looking towards what makes them feel good. Sometimes what makes them feel good is annoying to the human. Like jumping on people. They are just showing their excitement I get it…trust me I get it. One day this jumping can cause harm to someone so, this behavior is not acceptable. A dog jumping on a small child or elderly person can have very high consequences. Do not allow it. You have the tools. Use them. This is just one example. There are many more.
